Len Zickler is a Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) certified casting instructor
and Director of Education for the Washington State Council of the FFF.
Len is also chair of the Northwest Fly Casting EXPO for the Washington
Council of the FFF - an event an event his team won in 2002.
Fishing
since he could walk, Len cast his first fly 20 years ago, and has focused
his love for service to Jesus Christ and his passion for fly-fishing
with the formation of the Columbia Fly Casting School (CFCS). The school
is designed to provide basic fly fishing instruction in an environment
that will bless the student and glorifies our Lord and his creations.
Len has been a student of some of the best fly casters in the country,
having taken instruction from Mel Kreiger, Macauley Lord, Berris Samples,
Tom Jindra, Don Simonson, and Tony and Marilyn Vitale. Len's instruction
blends techniques and tips he has learned from his casting mentors.
Len's instruction focuses on what he describes as "the four essential
elements of effective fly casting" - the substance of our sport.
Len has designed a series of classes to address the needs of beginners
to advanced fly fishermen. The main objective of the introductory classes
is to give the student the skills necessary to experience fly fishing
success - in other words to catch trout! The ability to catch trout
independently, with minimal help from others, is the primary object
of these classes.
For the intermediate to advanced fly fisherman, Len will tailor his
instruction to the individual needs of the student.
